Located just outside of Chattanooga TN at the Highlands Riding Center, Hixson Therapeutic Riding Program is a non-profit organization that was started in 2009. At the Highlands Riding Center, we offer a variety of services and strive to create a close-knit community that fosters a fun and safe learning environment. We offer several lesson options for riders of all levels including therapy. We have discovered that through a relationship with horses, students discover skills such as commitment, hard work, leadership, confidence and awareness as well as harmony, balance, courage, and accomplishment. Horses offer us the ability to look inside ourselves and experience a whole new level of being. HTRP encourages you to come out and discover the power these magnificent animals hold.

New Gallery!!

During our Wonderful Barn Show, we were able to capture some wonderful pictures of students showing off their skills!  We have revamped our Gallery page to include several photos of different events this year. Check it out! If anyone has photos of any events including lessons, please email them to Heather at pod423@yahoo.com and I will get them posted.

  1. My 5 year old son has been doing therapeutic riding lessons at HTRP for the past few months. He has LOVED it! It has been so good for him and I am so sad that we are moving and have to leave his lessons here. The staff and the horses have been WONDERFUL! I am so impressed with the skills and things that you can teach a special needs child through caring for the horse and riding the horse. My son has autism, and has responded so well to therapy with a horse. I am so grateful for the staff and the most incredibly patient horses that my son has worked with. Thank you all for everything!
